Directus aims to democratize data by ensuring everyone in your organization can use it. While the Data Studio facilitates access to database collections and items, this is really where Directus Insights shines through our dashboard builder.
While the panels provided by a default installation of Directus focus on analyzing data, panels can also host forms and other interactive elements, as well as talk to external APIs. This makes Directus Insights a practical tool for building internal and back-office applications.
In Directus 10.7, we're releasing dozens of updates to Directus Insights focused on quality of life, customizability, and helping you better analyze your data.
Managing & Creating Dashboards
We've made it easier to manage your Insights Dashboards. You can now duplicate, export and import them, and apply bulk actions from your dashboard listing.
We've also updated the panel selection interface, which provides a cleaner look similar to our interface selection when editing your data model. If you build custom panels, there’s now an option to include your own graphic, which will help users better understand what your panel does.
Make Panels Your Own
The styling options for label and metric panels have been expanded. The number formatting for metric panels now includes style, notation, unit, and granular decimal settings for clearer data representation.
Multi-Series Line Charts
The Line Chart now allows you to plot multiple data series on a single chart, which is useful when comparing different datasets over a period of time.
There are so many ways which multi-series line charts are useful:
- Comparing Sales Data: If you have different product categories, multi-series line charts can help in comparing the sales trends of these categories over a specified timeframe. This visual comparison can provide insights into which categories are performing well and which are not.
- Website Traffic Analysis: For digital platforms, analyzing website traffic is crucial. Multi-series line charts can display the number of visitors, page views, and bounce rate over time, all on a single chart, providing a holistic view of website performance.
- Operational Metrics: If you're monitoring operational metrics such as the number of support tickets received, resolved, and pending, a multi-series line chart can provide a clear picture of the operational efficiency and workload over time.
- Financial Analysis: In financial analysis, comparing revenue, expenses, and net profit over consecutive quarters or years can be visually represented using multi-series line charts, aiding in better financial decision-making.
Introducing the Metric List Panel
The metric list panel is a new addition that allows for the display of a list of metrics, catering to various use-cases like showcasing top-selling products for a quarter, a global leaderboard, or the most viewed pages on your website.
That's Not All
These are just the most notable improvements to Directus Insights shipping as part of Directus 10.7, but almost every part of Insights has had attention paid to it.
